1936 Replica Gilmore Gas Station at 3rd & Fairfax Farmer's Market here in LA.

Gilmore Oil was founded when the family tried to drill a well to water dairy cattle on their property, several miles from downtown Los Angeles. Oil bubbled up instead, just as a new invention called the automobile was exploding in popularity and Gilmore Oil was born. The company soon grew to be the largest gasoline supplier west of the Mississippi. When the oil wells played out, the land was converted to a permanent Farmers Market at the corner of Third Street and Fairfax Avenue. As a tribute to the past, the Gilmore family commissioned the construction of a replica 1936 gas station at the popular tourist destination.
